John Emison is an artist and educator based in Los Angeles. His work often takes the form of subtle shifts in alignment, orientation, register, and scale. His work and teaching in sculpture, interdisciplinary practice, drawing, and painting is informed by the histories and theories of art as material culture, labor, and political imagination. Most recently his practice-based research includes letter carving in stone, astronomy, and the relationship between the living and the dead.

He has participated in solo and group exhibitions, screenings, performances, and programing in alternative spaces, galleries, and institutions across the US. He received an MFA in Sculpture from Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University, and a BA in Art and Anthropology from Colgate University.
